SENAPATI, Jun 20: The Naga Women's Union (NWU) has written to the Director General of the National Investigation Agency (NIA), seeking a fair, impartial, and expeditious investigation into the abduction and murder of 6 Naga civilians of Konsakhul village.
The Naga Women's Union said the six were among 18 Naga civilians including a child who were abducted from Leilon Vaiphei village on May 13. While the rest were released, dismembered bodies of the six men were recovered on June 10.
For swift investigation of the case, the NWU said the agency should arrest the chief of the Leilon Vaiphei village who is "reportedly absconding."
It further sought the NIA to arrest more than 30 women residents of Leilon Vaiphei and one State police personnel, Thanggilian Vaiphei for their alleged involvement in the case.
The involvement of the State police personnel,  Thanggilian Vaiphei of Leilon Vaiphei village, has been confirmed by women who were held hostage and released later, said the NWU.
The Naga Women's Union also sought the NIA to investigate the KNF(P), which is a SoO militant group, for their involvement in the abduction and killing of the Naga civilians.
All the persons who were involved in the abduction, confinement, murder, and concealment of evidence must be arrested, investigated and penalised under the law, said the NWU.
"This case is not merely a criminal matter but a profound human tragedy that has caused immense suffering to the families of the victims and to all the people," the NWU said, urging the NIA to "pursue the truth with utmost diligence, transparency, and integrity so that justice may prevail and public confidence in the rule of law may be upheld."
