Senior RPF member brought in for trial

IMPHAL, Jun 21 :  Self-styled Lieutenant Colonel of RPF/PLA Nongthombam Krishna alias Ingo, who was arrested by Manipur police in coordination with the Crime Branch Goa on June 16, was brought to Imphal yesterday in connection with a case registered at Lilong Police Station under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA)
According to reliable sources, Krishna was brought to Imphal by a team of Lilong police on an Air India Express flight from Goa via Delhi.
He was reportedly brought here in the early hours of yesterday morning and was subsequently taken to the Thoubal District Police Headquarters.
He is expected to be produced before the Court concerned in Thoubal tomorrow, upon completion of his transit remand.
Sources stated that security forces arrested two active cadres of the RPF/PLA from Waithou Sangomsang area near a stone crusher site under Lilong Police Station limits on June 5 on allegations of extortion from the public.
The arrested individuals were identified as Sanasam Sanamatum alias Tompok alias Oneman (32), of Wangoo Laipham Chithek Chingya Awang, and Yengkokpam Premchand alias Chingsanglakpa (26), of Thoubal Athokpam.
A two-wheeler moped was also seized from their possession.
During interrogation, the arrested cadres disclosed that they were operating under the command of Krishna.
Acting on specific intelligence inputs from Manipur police, a team of Crime Branch Goa intercepted Krishna shortly after his arrival in Goa from South Goa on June 16.
He was subsequently taken into custody.
Sources also stated that Krishna has been a wanted member of the PLA and he had been evading arrest for over two decades.
