Bhalla leads Yoga Day observance

IMPHAL, Jun 21 : The 12th International Day of Yoga was celebrated across Manipur, with Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla leading the State level observance at the Khuman Lampak Indoor Stadium, Imphal today.
Yoga practitioners, students and officials of the Government led by the Governor, virtually witnessed the main event in Kolkata where Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the Nation on the day.
Chief Minister Y Khemchand Singh, Home Minister Govindas Konthoujam, MLAs and Chief Secretary were also present.
The event at the Khuman Lampak witnessed the participation of over 1000 individuals, including students, public servants, yoga enthusiasts, security personnel, and members of the public.
The Governor encouraged people to perform yoga and take it up as a habit.
This year’s International Day of Yoga is observed on the theme ‘Yoga for Healthy Ageing’. The global observance highlights the Yoga’s benefits, physical vitality, mental clarity and emotional well-being.
Yoga Day was also observed at the Lok Bhavan, Imphal, where the Governor and the First Lady led the officers and staff in a yoga session.
The day was also observed at Bhaskara Prabha, Konjeng Keikai, Imphal West, observed by the Kreeda Bharati Manipur and Manipur Seva Samiti.
With Assembly Speaker Thokchom Satyabrata in attendance, around 600 people performed Yoga at the event.
Speaking on the occasion, the Speaker noted that yoga plays a vital role in ensuring a balanced and fulfilling life.
While improving physical health, yoga also contributes to mental clarity and emotional stability, which are essential for overall well-being, he said.
He called on people to collectively build a peaceful, disciplined, and harmonious society, adding that regular practice of yoga can help instill these values.
He also stressed the importance of maintaining a healthy diet along with yoga, encouraging people to adopt a balanced lifestyle for long-term wellness.
