SENAPATI, Jun 21: The Music Academy Association Senapati (MAAS), in collaboration with the Music Club, Mount Everest College, Senapati, observed World Music Day 2026 at the auditorium of Mount Everest College with a call to promote music and encourage young talents.
The event was organised to provide a platform for aspiring musicians and students to showcase their talents and celebrate the universal language of music.
The programme began with a one-minute silent prayer led by the President of MAAS in remembrance of the six Naga hostages who were killed. The organizers stated that the event was dedicated to music for peace and harmony.
Addressing the gathering, MAAS President Lemo Dominic said that World Music Day was not merely a celebration of melodies but a recognition of the deep impact of music on human life. He stated that music transcends borders, languages and cultures, serving as a universal expression of humanity.
He encouraged participating students not to lose confidence over mistakes, saying that every performance is a learning experience and the beginning of a better journey.
World Music Day, which originated in France in 1982 through the initiative of Jack Lang and Maurice Fleuret, has grown into a global celebration, bringing together musicians of all ages and backgrounds to promote creativity, diversity and the joy of music.
During the celebration, various music institutions including EpicGig Music Academy, Wings School of Music, Elan School of Music, Music Club Mount Everest College, The Artist Hive School of Music, Mac B Music Academy, Atoz Music Academy and Cadence School of Music presented musical performances.
The performances included group songs, rock bands, solo performances, trios, quartets and guitar shows, enthralling the audience.
Guest artists including Jasmine Leivon, Ziikhu Titus Tyaletya and Alamle Heraang also entertained the gathering with their melodious performances.
