Manipuri Sahitya Parishad observes foundation day

IMPHAL, Jun 23 : The Manipuri Sahitya Parishad, Imphal, celebrated its 12th Foundation Day on Tuesday with a ceremony at MDU Hall, Yaiskul Police Lane, where 12 national awardees were felicitated.
The programme began with floral tributes to the Parishad’s founder members in recognition of their contributions to Manipuri literature and culture.
Langthabal AC MLA Karam Shyam, Manipur State Kala Akademi secretary Sunanda Thokchom, Manipuri Sahitya Parishad Meghalaya president Munish Ningthoujam, Khoishnam Ongbi Birola, editor of Takhellei Nachom, Manipuri Literary and Cultural Forum, Tripura, and Manipuri Sahitya Parishad president Longjam Joychandra, attended as presidium members.
At the event, Longjam Joychandra said, “On completing 12 years, we remember and honour our predecessors. Their priceless contributions in literature, art, and culture have given Manipur’s heritage recognition on the world stage”.
The event reaffirmed the Parishad’s commitment to promoting Manipuri language, literature, and cultural identity.
