IMP/SPT/TBL, Jun 23 : District Olympic Associations across the State joined in observing the International Olympic Day today at their respective districts.
The Senapati District Olympic Association, Manipur (SDOAM) proudly commemorated the International Olympic Day at the Mini Stadium, Senapati under the Aegis of Manipur Olympic Association.
Joram Koveo, president of SDOAM expressed his delight to share that this year's celebration was marked by a meaningful tree plantation and cleanliness drive under the theme of promoting environmental sustainability through sports.
The event witnessed the active participation of all affiliated sports associations under SDOAM, along with athletes from various disciplines, including national-level and international-level sportspersons.
More than 100 participants came together in a remarkable display of unity and collective responsibility. Led by their respective sports associations, athletes, coaches, officials, and sports enthusiasts joined hands to plant trees in and around the sports premises while also carrying out a cleanliness drive to create a healthier and greener sporting environment.
The president mentioned that the Olympic Movement is not only about excellence in sports but also about fostering friendship, respect, and responsibility towards society. Through the day's activities, the President reaffirmed their commitment to these Olympic values and demonstrated that athletes can be powerful ambassadors for environmental conservation and community development.
The day was also observed by the Jiribam Olympic Association in Babpura, Jiribam; District Olympic Association, Thoubal at BASU ground, Khangabok; Kakching District Olympic Association at Kakching Wairi Panjao Panlum; Chandel District Olympic Association at Ziontlang Village Football Ground.
