Holders RCA cruise into final with 7-wicket thrashing of PTRC

IMPHAL, Jun 24 : Joint winners of the previous edition, RCA, Lilong entered the final of the 4th MNCA Men’s U19 One Day Trophy by thrashing PTRC, Patsoi Part IV by 7 wickets today at Luwangpokpa Cricket Stadium.
RCA, who overwhelmed CDCC by 245 runs in the quarterfinals, continued their fine run and dismissed PTRC for a paltry total of 65 runs within 23.2 overs before cruising to the winning 67/3 in just 14.5 overs.
RCA bowlers kept PTRC, who opted to bat first, completely under wraps right from the beginning.
Allrounder Zuned trapped Salam Richie (5 off 11 balls) for the first wicket in the fourth over and Md Danish Khan got rid of the other opener Laitonjam James (3 off 12 balls) to reduce PTRC to 9/2 in 4.4 overs.
PTRC further slipped to 34/6 in 11.3 overs Naesh Hussain and Nawaz Sharif then joined the fray shared four crucial wickets including Ngambarel Naoshekpam, who top-scored for PTRC with 19 runs off 27 balls.
Zuned, Nawaz Sharif, Danish Khan and Makakmayum Irfan then shared a wicket apiece to put PTRC innings to a close at 65.
Nawaz Sharif returned with the best figures of 3/17 in his spell of 5 overs as Zuned (2/8), Md Danish (2/10) and Naesh Hussain (2/18) shared 6 wickets.
In reply, RCA lost three wickets within 5.4 overs but Md Safwan (31 not out off 36 balls) and Md Anush (15 not out off 29 balls) forged an unbeaten 38-run fourth wicket partnership to seal the victory.
PTRC’s Laitonjam James (2/19 in 4 overs) collected the scalps of both the openers but it was not enough for the team to turn things around as the target they set was too small.
Naesh Hussain was adjudged man of the match for adding 13 runs and claiming two wickets.
