Senapati, Jun 24 : The Naga Women’s Union (NWU) has accused the Government of being soft toward Kuki militants  amid the unresolved case of the killing of six Naga men after they were abducted.
The Union, in  a statement, alleged an imbalance in Government attention while justice remains elusive in the abduction, torture, and brutal murder of the six victims.
A month and a half has passed since the victims were abducted on May 13 and later found dead on June 10, 2026, in a mutilated, beheaded, and dismembered condition, it added.
Saying that the barbaric nature of the crime shocked the conscience of the Naga people and drew widespread condemnation from civil society organisations, human rights advocates, and  citizens, the NWU lamented that there, however, has been no visible progress in identifying and prosecuting the perpetrators despite repeated appeals, representations, and demands for accountability.
The Union further stated that CoBRA units, CRPF, and other security forces continue to facilitate and escort the movement of sections of the Kuki community through Naga-inhabited areas, while the families of the victims continue to mourn without answers or justice.
It said such actions are deeply painful and difficult to comprehend for bereaved families and affected communities.
The NWU questioned the lack of urgency in apprehending those responsible for one of the most horrific crimes committed by Kuki elite politicians, KNF-P and the community members .
The victims' families and the Naga community continue to await justice for the slain civilians, it added.
Referring to an incident on June 24, 2026, at Namdilong, Kanglatongbi, where security forces allegedly used excessive force against civilians in the early hours, the Union termed the action deeply unfortunate and disturbing.
Urging the Government and security forces to exercise utmost restraint in sensitive areas, it added that any untoward incident arising from such actions will be the sole responsibility of the Government. The NWU further asserted that the foremost responsibility of the State is to secure justice for the victims through an impartial and time-bound investigation.
All perpetrators of the crime must be prosecuted.
It also stated that justice for the six innocent victims must not be overshadowed by any other administrative or political consideration. In light of these concerns and prevailing circumstances, the Union demanded that the transportation of the alleged perpetrating community be suspended until a concrete and transparent decision is taken by the competent authorities.
