BISHNUPUR, Jun 26 (DIO) :A delegation of the Election Commission of India (ECI), led by Deputy Director P Pawan reviewed the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR)-2026 of the Photo Electoral Roll in Bishnupur, today.
The delegation, accompanied by Devansh Tiwari, Social Media Executive, Election Commission of India, held a review meeting with the District Election Officer (DEO) Pooja Elangbam, who is also the Deputy Commissioner of Bishnupur, along with the Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) of the district.
During the meeting, Pooja Elangbam presented a detailed report on the progress of SIR-2026 activities in the district.
The presentation highlighted the district’s demographic profile, preparatory measures undertaken, training of election personnel, printing and distribution of Enumeration Forms, the ongoing enumeration process, rationalisation of polling stations, and other key initiatives carried out as part of the revision exercise.
Reviewing the progress of the SIR, P Pawan appreciated the efforts of the district administration in implementing the exercise.
He emphasised the importance of maintaining proper documentation of all activities undertaken during the SIR process.
He also stressed the need to strengthen the response mechanism against misinformation and advised officials to make every effort to effectively counter and prevent the spread of misinformation.
Later, the ECI delegation, accompanied by the Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) and Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs) of Moirang and Thanga Assembly Constituencies, visited Chingu Thangjing Guest House Relief Camp in Moirang as well as polling stations in Thanga and Karang.
During the field visit, the delegation interacted with Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) residing at the relief camp regarding the ongoing SIR activities.
The delegation also interacted with Booth Level Officers (BLOs) at the polling stations, who briefed them on the activities undertaken, particularly their role and progress during the enumeration phase of the Special Intensive Revision.
