IMPHAL, Jun 25: A total of 275 loaded trucks reached Imphal this afternoon after movement of heavy vehicles resumed on the National Highway-37 today.
Incessant rain had caused a portion of NH-37 to sink near Shantikhunou CRPF Camp, under the Kaimai police station, Tamenglong district.
After the road repair work which began on Wednesday was completed yesterday, only light vehicles were allowed to move, stranding the 275 loaded trucks. The loaded trucks were allowed to move early this morning.
With the stranded vehicles reaching Imphal this afternoon, another 300 vehicles under the protection of two security convoys have left Jiribam for Imphal this morning, said sources.
The 300 vehicles include 31 LPG tankers, 21 petrol tankers, 37 diesel tankers, 7 tankers carrying both petrol and diesel, 3 aviation fuel tankers, one POL tanker, and 200 goods trucks.
While the sinking of the portion of the road between Sibilong and Kaimai had paused vehicular movement, minor landslides at several stretches of Oinamlong and Nungdolan had also disrupted normal traffic.
