IMPHAL, Jun 25 : AKSDO, Khangabok clinched a spectacular 2-run victory over TCMDC, Thongju II Pechu Lampak in a low-scoring semi-final thriller of the 4th MNCA Men’s U19 One Day Trophy at Luwangpokpa Cricket Stadium to set up the title final date with RCA, Lilong.
After winning the toss and electing to field first, TCMDC’s bowling attack justified the decision by bundling out AKSDO for a modest 91 runs in 30.3 overs.
Chingamba Elangbam anchored the AKSDO innings with a gritty 30 off 52 balls, while Laishram Samson chipped in with 18.
For TCMDC, Laishram Valindra was the pick of the bowlers with stellar figures of 3/15 in 8 overs, receiving ample support from Surchand Sapam (2/8) and Vishonath Laishram (2/15).
Chasing a target of 92 runs, TCMDC appeared to be in control but choked against a highly disciplined and relentless AKSDO bowling unit, eventually folding for 89 runs in 26 overs.
Rain Urikhinbam top-scored for TCMDC with a hard-fought 28 off 47 balls, and Takhellambam Nganba Meitei contributed a quick 18, but it was not enough to cross the finish line.
AKSDO's defensive masterclass was orchestrated by a collective bowling effort: Chingamba Elangbam completed a brilliant all-round performance with 2/12, while Saikhom Kaiku (2/14), Saikhom Lanchenba (2/19), and Saikhom Dinesh (2/23) picked up crucial wickets at vital junctions to seal the dramatic 2-run win.
Saikhom Kaiku was adjudged player of the match.
The final match is slated for June 29 at Luwangpokpa Cricket Stadium, Luwangsangbam.
