UAKOM return with haul of 11 medals from WAKO India Sub-Jr National Kickboxing Championship

IMPHAL, Jun 25 : The team of United Association of Kickboxing Organisation Manipur (UAKOM) returned home with a haul of 11 medals including 2 gold, 3 silver and 6 bronze medals from the “WAKO India National Kickboxing Championship for Sub-Junior Boys and Girls” that was held from June 17 to 21 at Indore Public School Main Campus at Rajendra Nagar, AB Road Indore.
Notably, UAKOM team comprising 22 athletes were led by coaches N Yaiphaba and Y Brazil Meitei. Moirangthem Chaningkhombi of Manipur also officiated the event as a referee, said UAKOM in a press release.
The team were accorded a warm reception upon their return today at Imphal International Airport, it said.
The athletes who brought home gold medals include Angom Yohenba (-47 kg) and L Lirikhomba (+36 kg) as Thokchom Khagemba (+21 kg), Kh Pinaheibi (-21 kg) and Mayanglambam Jurina (+47 kg) settled for the silver medals. M Chingkheinganba (-32 kg), Kh Ranisana (-24 kg), Abujam Nikson (-27 kg), Th Chingkheinganba (+47 kg), Th Arina (-42 kg) and Kongkham Ningthounganba (+69 kg) meanwhile bagged bronze medals at the championship.
