Nupi Samaj celebrates foundation day

IMPHAL, Jun 26: All Manipur Women's Social Reformation and Development Samaj (Nupi Samaj) observed its 51st foundation day today.
The observance at its office at Lamphel was attended by its president Thokcom Ramani, Apunba Manipur Kanba Ima Lup (AMKIL) president Lourembam Nganbi and All Manipur Tammi Chingmi Apunba Nupi Lup president Yambem Momoni.
A floral tribute to late members and founders of the Lup and a 2-minute silence in their honour marked the day.
Speaking to the gathering, Nupi Samaj president Th Ramani said the indigenous communities should unite and take strong resolutions to protect Manipur's future.
Manipur and the indigenous people are at present facing threats from narco-terrorists. While the Central security forces have failed to crack down on the terrorists, the indigenous people must unite and face the threats collectively, she said.
The women society should lead in all efforts to safeguard Manipur's integrity, she added.
Nupi Samaj advisor Kh Indu reaffirmed the association's commitment to work for development and welfare of women, and lead in every movement to protect Manipur's integrity.
