Indian Army pays tribute to Late Havildar (Retd) W Govindchandra Singh

Imphal, Jun 26: The Indian Army paid tribute to Late Havildar (Retd) Warepam Govindchandra Singh of the Indian Army Medical Corps, who passed away at Lucknow on June 23, 2026, during an official visit.
The mortal remains of the veteran were received at Imphal Airport on June 26 and were escorted to his native village, Phubala, with full military dignity and honours.
Following the completion of all statutory formalities, including postmortem procedures, the mortal remains were transported from Lucknow to Imphal via Delhi before being handed over to the bereaved family.
Senior Army representatives laid wreaths on behalf of the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Eastern Command, and the General Officer Commanding, Red Shield Division, honouring the late veteran's dedicated service to the nation.
The Indian Army extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul. The Army also conveyed its support to the family during the difficult time.
