IMPHAL, Jun 26 : At least 78 individuals from Keishamthong Assembly Constituency joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today and they were felicitated at Thambal Shanglen, Nityaipat Chuthek.
The new members were welcomed by senior BJP leaders led by Manipur BJP vice-president (president-in-charge) Laishram Minabanta.
Addressing a press conference after the felicitation ceremony, BJP Manipur general secretary K Sarat-kumar expressed confidence that the party would register a decisive victory in the Assembly election scheduled for February 2027 and return to power in the State.
He said the induction of 78 members from Keisham-thong would strengthen the BJP's organisational base.
According to him, the new entrants will serve as Booth Level Agents at different polling stations in Keishamthong Constituency.
Stating that the BJP would intensify its activities in Keishamthong, Sarat-kumar said more prominent personalities are expected to join the party in the coming days.
He also expressed confidence that the BJP candidate from Keishamthong Assembly Constituency would emerge victorious in the forthcoming election.
Referring to the party's electoral performance across the country, Saratkumar said the BJP has formed Governments in several States including West Bengal which was governed by Trinamool Congress and CPI (M) for decades
He asserted that BJP would once again form the Government in Manipur in 2027.
Commenting on the political scenario in the State, he said the emergence of new regional parties would ultimately benefit sitting MLAs.
He claimed that regional parties which had previously formed Governments in Manipur had failed to remain in power for long.
For a State like Manipur, he said, it is beneficial for the State Government to be led by the same party that is in power at the Centre.
He also expressed confidence that the Government would work out a solution to the crisis plaguing Manipur before the election.
