IMPHAL, Jun 26: While the Kuki-Zo Council (KZC) has admitted that the brutal murder of six Naga hostages was committed by Kuki militants, a team of Naga legislators and leaders of the United Naga Council  (UNC) held a meeting with Union Home Minister Amit  Shah at Delhi on Wednesday.
Even though what exactly transpired during the meeting could not be ascertained, sources said that the Naga leaders and Amit Shah might have talked about the existing conflict situation and the butchering of six Naga hostages by Kuki militants.
Following the brutal murder of the six Naga hostages and mutilation of their bodies beyond recognition, the people of Manipur in general and Nagas in particular have been demanding justice in the form of awarding exemplary punishment to the murderers.
Amidst the persistent outcry for justice, the KZC admitted that the barbaric murder was committed by Kuki militants.
Saying that the murder of the hostages was a big mistake, the KZC also expressed regret.
But this admission has only strengthened the Naga people’s resolve to fight for justice, said the sources.
The UNC and other Naga civil society organisations may soon hold a meeting on the admission of the KZC, according to the sources.
The KZC’s admission that the six Naga hostages were butchered by Kuki militants has added more legitimacy to the Naga people’s demands which include arrest, prosecution and awarding of befitting punishment as per law to all those people involved in the gruesome murder.
The sources said that the admission made by the KZC even before no Kuki militant group (both SoO and non-SoO) has claimed responsibility for the murder of the six hostages will help the Government in solving the issue and delivering justice.
The Government can now establish the identities of all those people involved in the brutal murder and mutilation of their bodies by just talking with the KZC leaders, said the sources.
