ZUF (JK), NSCN (IM) clash

IMPHAL, Jun 26: A fierce gun fight broke out between ZUF(JK) and suspected NSCN(IM) cadres at Kaiphundai along Imphal-Jiribam highway, Tamenglong district under Tousem police station this morning.
A gun fight broke out all of a sudden between suspected ZUF (JK) and NSCN(IM) cadres at around 5.30 am, forcing many people to flee from Kaiphundai village to safer areas, sources said.
According to the sources, the gun fight broke out when suspected NSCN(IM) cadres attacked a hideout of ZUF (JK) located at Kaiphundai village.
The attack resulted in an exchange of firing between the two sides which lasted for around 30 minutes.
There is no report of any injury or casualty on either side.
Soon after the incident, a team of Central armed forces and State police rushed to the spot and took stock of the situation.
The gun fight disrupted traffic movement along Imphal-Jiribam Highway till the afternoon, said the sources.
