Grenade attack

IMPHAL, Jun 26: Unknown persons suspected to be members of an underground outfit lobbed two hand grenades at the residence of ADC Kakching Phurailatpam Bhabananda Sharma (46) located at Brahmapur Guruaribam Leikai today at around 12.30 am.
The two hand grenades exploded, but none was hurt.
One of the hand grenades exploded on the tin roof of the house, and another exploded near the bathroom, causing damages.
The incident occurred weeks after unidentified persons placed two grenades with a warning note at the residence on May 12.
Denouncing the bomb attack today, locals and Meira Paibis of Brahmapur staged a sit-in protest at the Youth Club Brahmapur Aribam Leikai in the afternoon.
The locals strongly condemned the attack, and advised the individuals and groups concerned not to repeat the incidents in the future.
The explosions could have hurt and killed the family members and neighbours including children. Such incidents must not happen in the locality in the future, the locals said, asking the groups concerned to claim responsibility.
