IMPHAL, Jun 28: Kuki terrorists have once again started roaming openly in the Khamenlok, Dolaithabi and Mark Hill range areas in Imphal East district, according to the Khundrakpam Kendra Youth Organization (KHUKYO).
The organisation has also expressed strong indignation against the protest rally taken out by some Kukis against resettlement of native IDPs at their homes at Dolaithabi.
Instead of preventing or thwarting unwarranted and provocative rally, Central forces led the protesters, KHUKYO alleged in a press statement.
It asked if the Government has surreptitiously given away all the lands of Khundrakpam Assembly Constituency to the Kukis.
Categorically stating that Kukis have no right to raise any objection to resettlement of indigenous Meitei people at their homes, KHUKYO has asserted that any objection to the resettlement process is unacceptable, and it is prepared to face any eventuality.
If any untoward incident erupts because of the unwarranted objection to the resettlement process, Kukis may face dire consequences and the Government must be held responsible for such a fallout, it said.
It also expressed strong apprehension that Kuki terrorists may launch an extensive armed aggression against Meiteis in foothill and peripheral areas any time.
The ineffectiveness of the elite COBRA Unit of CRPF in containing the Kuki terrorists has only reaffirmed that the Central Government has been using the Kuki terrorists as their proxy army, KHUKYO asserted.
With the State’s own forces detailed to repress and arrest only the Meiteis,  the Government of India has been scheming to ignite an internecine war in the State.
If the Government gives order, the State forces have the capability to drive out immigrant Kukis up to Myanmar, it said.
If the leaders of the incumbent Government are not in a position to restore peace and expedite the resettlement process, they must step down, it added.
On the other hand, many Kuki people took out a protest rally in Saikul sub-division, adjoining Imphal East district today against the Government’s move to resettle displaced families at Dolaithabi.
The rally was taken out under the aegis of Kuki Inpi Saikul.
The protesters said that any attempt to facilitate the return or resettlement of displaced persons must be based on mutual understanding and consensus between the two communities rather than through Government initiative.
