Who Shapes Whom?

They say God created humankind,
Yet many shape God in their own design.
Truth is not a toy to remake at will,
Nor a mirror for every passing whim.

If the Divine is clothed in jest,
And sacred light becomes a show,
Will reverence fade into laughter,
Like a cartoon upon a screen?

Between belief and human hands
A question lingers still:
Do we seek the face of God,
Or carve a face that suits ourselves?
