‘Under GAD’

Asem Rangina Chanu, Joint Secretary (Finance), Government of Manipur, has stated that the restoration of Saturday holidays falls under the purview of the General Administration Department (GAD). In a letter to the Joint Secretary (GAD), Rangina also noted that the Finance Department (Pay Implementation Cell) has not offered any comments regarding the restoration of Saturday holidays.
She added that the proposal to align Dearness Allowance (DA) for State Government employees with that of Central Government employees is currently under examination.
However, she clarified that the Government has not taken any decision at present to enhance the retirement age.
Notably, the Manipur Secretariat Services Association, the Manipur Government Services Federation, and the Manipur State Pensioners’ Union have been demanding, among other things, an increase in the retirement age to 62 years, parity of DA/DR with Central Government employees, and the declaration of Saturdays as holidays.
