L Samarendra's birth centenary celebration to be held in Tripura

The Laishram Samarendra Birth Centenary Celebration Committee, Imphal, in association with the Patriotic Writers Forum (PWF), Tripura, is set to organise the birth centenary celebration of noted writer Laishram Samarendra at Agartala Press Club Auditorium, Tripura, on June 30.
The programme is being organised as part of the yearlong centenary birth celebration of the renowned writer, which commenced on July 20 last year.
According to a release issued by PWF, Tripura, the celebration will be attended by Sahitya Akademi awardee and convenor of the celebration committee, Saratchandra Thiyam, as the chief guest. Patriotic Writers Forum, Tripura president Kshetrimayum Madhabi Singha will attend as the functional president, while Manipuri Sahitya Parishad, Tripura general secretary Seleibam Khelamon will be the guest of honour.
The welcome address will be delivered by celebration committee member Rakesh Naorem.
As part of the programme, poems written by Laishram Samarendra, including “Yengkhom Shija” and “Ishi March Akhan”, will be recited to commemorate the literary contributions of the writer.
