International Day Against Drug Abuse observed

KAMJONG, Jun 27 (DIPR): The District Social Welfare Office, Kamjong, under the supervision of district administration, observed the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking at the Integrated Rehabilitation for Addicts (IRCA) Shungriphai village, Kamjong district yesterday.
Badan Thaimei, Zonal Education Officer, Kamjong and Additional Superintendent of Police Kh Herojit Singh and several officials of the Government attended the observance.
Speaking on the occasion, Badan Thaimei emphasised the significance of collective responsibility in combating drug abuse.
Additional SP Kh Herojit Singh spoke on the legal implications and dangers of drug abuse.
Sub-Deputy Collector, Kasom Khullen Block Orient Thansing addressed the gathering on Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan.
District Social Welfare Officer, Kamjong Angom Tamphasana Chanu highlighted the importance of Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan awareness to combat substance abuse.
A drawing competition and an essay competition were held, and prizes and certificates were distributed to the winners and participants.
The participants also took a pledge against drug abuse.
During the programme, recovered beneficiaries of the IRCA shared their experiences with addiction and their journey toward recovery. More than 200 individuals including the Pastor of Shungriphai village, Horei; chief functionary, IRCA, Noyon Sagolsem; and project coordinator, IRCA Ksh Jayenta attended the observance.
