UKHRUL, Jun 3: The Maku village authority has declared a 48-hour shutdown of the NH-102 (A) from June 4 midnight to June 6 midnight over "abandonment" of the PMGSY work and PHSC building construction project.
A press statement issued by Aleng Shaiza, chairman of the Maku Development Council, said that the developmental projects have been "abandoned" midway despite repeated appeals by the villagers to complete the work before the rainy season.
It alleged that the Manipur State Rural Roads Development Agency (MSRRDA), the Rural Engineering Department (RED), and the Engineering Cell (Hill-I) have neglected the village and its people.
It further alleged that the guidelines under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) and PM-ABHIM (Pradhan Mantri-Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission) have been flouted.
While the Maku village PMGSY road stretching 8 kilometres costing Rs 334.69 lakh was scheduled for completion by April 2020, the construction of the building of the Maku Primary Health Sub-Centre (PHSC) has been abandoned for over 11 months, said the village authority. The PMGSY road project was awarded to HVS Construction Materials Private Limited, and the PM-ABHIM project was awarded to M/S Kshetrimayum and sublet to one Guneshor Singh, it added. Failure to hear and address repeated demands to resume and complete the projects has forced the village to shut the NH-102A for 48 hours, said the village authority.
