DGP reviews security in dists

IMPHAL, Jun 29: DGP Mukesh Singh visited Kakching district, the headquarters of 8th MR at Leikun and Chandel district today to review security preparedness, policing and depart- mental welfare measures.
At Kakching district, the DGP reviewed the preparedness of the district police to prevent any untoward incidents in vulnerable areas during the ongoing farming season.
Interacting with officers of the district police, CAPFs and Central agencies, he stressed the importance of effective investigation, speedy disposal of cases, sustained operations against anti-National elements and drug traffickers, and intensified efforts for the recovery of illegal arms and ammunition.
He assured that officers and personnel displaying exemplary professionalism would be suitably rewarded.
The DGP also appreciated the Cycle Patrol initiative of the Kakching district police as an effective model of beat policing. He also interacted with representatives of various CSOs.
At the headquarters of 8th MR at Leikun, the DGP chaired a review meeting on deployment of forces. He encouraged the security personnel to display pro- fessionalism, discipline, and healthy work practices and maintain a harmonious environment within the unit.
He also urged the officers to explore innovative ways for optimum utilisation of the unit's land and other resources for departmental welfare.
During his visit to Chandel district, the DGP inaugurated a newly renovated conference hall at the office of the Superintendent of Police, Chandel, and a newly established Cyber Cell, aimed at strengthening cybercrime investigation and modernising policing infrastructure.
He held interaction sessions with officers of Chandel district police, representatives of CSOs and the Assam Rifles.
He reviewed policing issues and encouraged the force to maintain professionalism and people-centric policing. He appreciated the excellent coordination between the district police and the CSOs in maintaining peace and harmony, and underscored the importance of continued inter-agency cooperation.
