1st MNCA Women’s U19 T20 Trophy PCC beat SHADOW by 41 runs for second straight Group B win

IMPHAL, Jun 29 : PCC, Mayaikoibi posted their second straight Group B win in the 1st MNCA Women’s U19 T20 Trophy by defeating SHADOW, Thangmeiband by 41 runs at Khudeiband Lampak, Taothong today.
PCC opted to bat first and rode on Nongthombam Langlentombi’s 59-ball 50 and 41 extras conceded by SHADOW bowlers to raise a modest total of 113 runs for 6 wickets in the allotted 20 overs. PCC bowlers then restricted SHADOW to 72/9 in the chase to seal their second win on the trot.
Wahengbam Priyabati picked two wickets (2/13 in 4 overs) for SHADOW as Sagatpam Henthoibi, Victoria Thokchom, Kebriya Devi Sapam and Viviene Laishram picked a wicket apiece.
In reply, opener Viviene did her best to keep the chase alive before she was dismissed for the fifth wicket on 22 (off 20 balls). One down batter Kebriya also made 13 off 11 balls but the following batters departed cheaply or on ducks.
Yumnam Sungsung (2/7 in 4 overs) and Kebiyasna Devi Puyam (2/17) led the PCC bowling attack today as Hemam Lingjen, Elangbam Sophia and Manithoi Salam chipped in with a wicket apiece.
Langlenthoibi who led the PCC batting onslaught, was adjudged player of the match.
Elsewhere at THAU ground, FORCE hammered PTRC by 9 wickets for the first Group A win. FORCE, who lost by 8 wickets to AKSDO in their group opener, restricted toss winners PTRC to 98/5 before easing to the target in 11 overs riding on Sumeiya Shahni’s masterful knock of 57 runs off 40 balls laden with 7 fours and 1 six.
Laishram Bigyabati top-scored for PTRC with an unbeaten 33 off 24 balls (4 fours) followed by Laitonjam Benita (22 off 14 balls) and Chongtham Dimple (10 off 34 balls).
Nazmin Khanam (2/19) and Rahamatun (2/12) shared four wickets for FORCE in this innings before Sumeiya and Kh Rukshad forged 82 runs off 53 balls for the first wicket partnership to put the team in a sniffing distance of a win. Rukshad got run out on her 29th run in the 5th delivery of the 9th over to end the partnership but Sumeiya and Barkatun 2 not out off 2 balls then finished off the chase in the final delivery of the 11th over.
Sumeiya, who shone with the bat, was eventually named player of the match.
