Two from Kpi held with brown sugar

IMPHAL, Jun 29: Two individuals including a woman from Kangpokpi district have been arrested with 530 grams of brown sugar.
The two drug dealers have been identified as Helkho Kipgen (45) s/o Paolal Kipgen of Keithelmanbi village, Kangpokpi district and Hatneilhing Kipgen (40) w/o Tongsei Kipgen of Hengbung Kangpokpi district.
They were arrested by a combined team of Senapati Police, a team from Senapati Women Police Station and CRPF after intercepting one vehicle (Yodha) at Tumuyon Khullen check-point, Senapati district at around 8 am today.
Altogether 42 soap cases containing 530 grams of suspected brown sugar were found on checking the vehicle in which the two were travelling.
In addition to the contraband drug item, the vehicle, two mobile phones and a lady’s purse containing Rs 5000 in cash were seized from their possession.
With the arrest of the two drug dealers, a case has been registered at Senapati police station.
A number of individuals have been arrested while trying to smuggle drugs.
