IMPHAL, Jun 3 : FORCE, Kshetrigao ended their two-game losing run in the 4th MNCA Men’s U-19 One Day Trophy Group B competition by handing SU, Sagolband a 34-run defeat at Khangabok Cherapur Public Ground today.
SU won the toss and let FORCE to bat first. Riding on a concerted effort among the bowlers, SU managed to dismiss FORCE for 132 runs in 29 overs but they faltered badly in the chase and were bundled out for 98 runs in 19.3 overs to go down for the third time in the league round.
FORCE had a stuttering start to the innings and slipped to 45/4 in 16.4 overs with Sagolshem Hemjit collecting scalps of three top order batters including Jaheer and Ziad Khan on ducks.
Zaheer (44 off 43 balls) and Syed Ashif (39 off 31 balls) gave FORCE some hopes midway by adding 69 runs for the fifth wicket.
Things got worst for the team as David Keisham and Philan Rajkumar joined the fray and claimed a wicket apiece to leave FORCE struggling at 128/6 before A Romen, who undone Syed Fayaz on a 3-ball duck for the third wicket, bowled out Zaheer and set up Epham Muskur catch to complete his treble of wickets in the 28th over and reduced FORCE to 128/8.
Kritivash Ningthoujam then took the honour to pick the remaining two wickets and walked away with the bowling figures of 2/22 in 6 overs.
Hemjit returned with the best figures of 3/19 in 6 overs for SU as A Romen finished with 3/15 in 5 overs.
In reply, opener Ningombam Ambedkar (30 off 48 balls) and David Keisham (17 off 22 balls) emerged the only double digit run getters for SU as they were bowled out for a paltry total of 98 runs in 19.3 overs.
Ziad Khan (3/17 in 6 overs), Epham Muskur (3/21 in 2.3 overs) and Moinam Hafizuddin (2/13 in 5 overs) shared a bulk of 8 wickets to unsettle SU batters during the chase as Jaheer picked one (1/5 in 2 overs).
The Group D match between Al-Ameen and TCMDC staged at Khudeiband Lampak was, however, abandoned due to rain. They shared a point apiece due to the abandonment.
