38th State Level Mini Boys and Girls’ Handball Tournament 2026 underway

IMPHAL, Jun 3 : The 38th State Level Mini Boys and Girls’ Handball Tournament 2026 kicked off today at Indira Memorial Club, Thoubal Leishangthem under the aegis of the Manipur Handball Association.
7 boys’ teams clubbed into two groups and 6 girls’ teams clubbed into two Pools are taking part in the league cum knock-out tournament.
The opening match of the boys’ tournament (Pool B) saw hosts IMC, Leishangthem beat OYO, Kongpal by 19-16 margin. Y Rishikanta scored 10 goals to earn IMC full points today as L Lorita added 5 goals, S Rajdeep added 2 goals and T Paikhomba and L Tenjarin scored a goal apiece.
T Malemnganba meanwhile topsored for OYO by netting 8 goals alone followed by Ksh Simaran (4), Ksh Malemnganba (3) and Brinath (1).
In the Pool A match staged later in the day, KVWA, Mayang Imphal thumped KKLYDO, Kongpal by 20-10 goals.
Th Mathoi topscored with 9 goals for the winners as Th Ronaldo (5) and S Nganba (3) contributed 8 goals and Yohenba and Yohenba Asem scored one goal apiece.
For KKLYDO, Bikash (4), M Rajkumar (3) and W Punnaraj (2) and Vivek Ngaingom (1) were on target.
Meanwhile in the girls’ opening match (Pool A), Bidyaluxmi netted 6 goals to set up KVWA a 15-8 win over SSC, Khurai. S Tomthinganbi followed with 3 goals for the team as Th Likla, N Jenybala and Th Mathoi scored two goals apiece.
For SSC, Helena added four goals as Rebiya and Sinthoi contributed two goals apiece.
Later in the day, KKLYDO edged YLK, Chingarel by 10-9 goals in a keenly contested Pool B clash.
M Lucky and N Dolly scored four goals apiece and Christina scored twice for the Kongpal side as N Sophiya (5) and Kh Sana (4) shared 9 goals for the Chingarel side.
