Drug smugglers held

IMPHAL, Jun 4 : Two drug smugglers were arrested from Imphal Airport along with four kilograms of brown sugar, today.
They were intercepted after CISF security detected two packets of brown sugar, each weighing 2 kilograms, during routine X-ray screening of their luggages, according to sources.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Kh Sabir Ahmed (24), son of Kh Burhanuddin of Kiyamgei Oinam Loukon, and Syed Sabir Ali (26), son of Syed Najub Ali, also of Kiyamgei Oinam Loukon.
They were attempting to board an Indigo flight to Kolkata around noon.
Following the detection, Singjamei police, along with a mobile forensic expert team and a Magistrate, were informed.
The brown sugar was seized on the spot following due formalities in the presence of the Magistrate and later handed over to Singjamei police for further legal action under the ND&PS Act, sources said.
