65th CC Meet Sainik FC beat SSC 1-0 as YOSC edge RAU 4-3

IMPHAL, Jun 4 : Sainik FC extended their Group G win to two games by defeating SSC, Sekta by a slender 1-0 margin as YOSC, Khurai beat RAU, Lairikyengbam Leikai in a 7-goal Group G thriller in the Babina Group 65th Sir Churachand Singh KCSI, CBE Memorial Football Tournament at Mapal Kangjeibung today.
In the Group G match YOSC and RAU were evenly poised throughout the match but Khami Vashum scored during the stoppage time to make the difference and earn YOSC all three points. Worchuipei Kashung handed YOSC the lead early in the 2nd minute but Ngasepam Diamond made sure RAU remain in the competition by scoring the equaliser in the 6th minute.
After settling the first half in a 1-1 draw, Worchuipei Kashung retained the lead for YOSC in the 56th minute only to be level by Ngasepam Diamond again for RAU in the 62nd minute.
Thounaojam Shital then turned things around in favour of RAU by converting a penalty in the 70th minute but Konsam Genius drew level for YOSC in the 75th minute to keep the competition open.
The game almost ended in a 3-3 draw but relentless YOSC walked away with all three points as Khami Vashum who came off the bench in place of Takhelmayum Bikramjit after 73 minutes, snatched the win by scoring two minutes into the stoppage time giving little time for RAU to stage a comeback.
Later in the day, Sainik FC rode on Chirom Shinivash’s goal before the break (45+3’) to seal the 1-0 win over SSC.
