IMPHAL, Jun 8: BJP Manipur Pradesh president Adhikarimayum Sharda filed her nomination papers for the election to the State’s lone Rajya Sabha seat today.
A Sharda who is representing the NDA submitted three sets of nomination papers to the Secretary, Mani- pur Legislative Assembly.
The first set of nomination papers was proposed by MLAs K Govindas, L Rameshwor, L Susindro, Kh Joykisan, Kh Raghumani, Nishikant Sapam and S Kunjakeswar (Keba).
MLAs N Biren, Losii Dikho, Md Abdul Nasir, Th Shyamkumar, I Nalini and Ram Muivah were the proposers of the second set.
The third set was proposed by MLAs Y Khemchand, Dr Sapam Ranjan, Heikham Dingo, Md Ashabuddin, Dingang-lung gangmei, Sanasam Premchandra and Thangjam Arunkumar.
Chief Minister Y Khemchand, Deputy Chief Minister Losii Dikho, MLAs Th Biswajit, Ram Muivah, I Nalini, T Robindro, NPF Manipur unit president Awangbow Newmai and BJP advisor Dr Rajdeep Roy were present when Sharda submitted her nomination papers.
Till today, which is the last date for submission of nomination papers, it is only BJP’s A Sharda who have submitted nomination papers.
As such, A Sharda may be declared elected to the Rajya Sabha after scrutiny of the nomination papers on June 9.
Speaking to media persons after submitting her nomination papers, A Sharda conveyed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and other BJP Central leaders for nominating her as NDA candidate for the State’s lone Rajya Sabha seat. Sharda said that she will work to protect the integrity of Manipur and go hand in hand with the people to address public issues, if elected to the Rajya Sabha. She said that she will raise many women-centric issues toward empowerment of women. Sharda added that she will focus on women-led development.
