IMPHAL, Jun 8 : Senior journalist Okram Homendro passed away today at the age of 52.
A resident of Singjamei Makha Khongnangphei-dekpi and Sub-Editor (Sports) of Poknapham daily, Homendro is survived by his wife and two sons.
He began his journalism career with Naharolgi Thou-dang in 1999 and worked as a sports journalist with the daily until 2011.
In 2013, he joined Poknapham, where he continued to serve with dedication.
Homendro fell unconscious while on duty on June 4 around 9 pm and was immediately taken to Neuro Emergency Trauma Multi-Specialty Hospital at Singjamei.
The following day, he was referred to SHIJA Hospital.
Unfortunately, he passed away today around 4.15 pm.
Following his demise, his mortal remains were brought to the Manipur Press Club at Major Khul, where members of the media fraternity, accompanied by family members and led by All Manipur Working Journalists’ Union president Asem Bhakta and Editors’ Guild Manipur president Khogendra Khomdram, paid their respects.
The media personnel also observed a two-minute silence in honour of the late journalist.
Former Chief Minister N Biren Singh also paid his respects to Homendro.
