IMPHAL, Jun 8 : Reiterating its demands to raise the retirement age from 60 to 62, end contractual appointments for vacant sanctioned posts, and address other concerns, the Manipur Government Services’ Federation (MGSF) has resolved to launch an indefinite “cease work” strike starting July 1 if their demands are not entertained.
The Federation, in a letter addressed to Chief Minister Y Khemchand as a final ultimatum, stated that its longstanding and legitimate demands remain unaddressed and unresolved, despite repeated representations, memorandums, discussions, and negotiations over the years.
The demands of the State Government employees include raising the retirement age from 60 to 62, increasing DA/DR in line with Central Government employees, revoking the order cancelling Saturday holidays, constituting a State Pay Commission for the implementation of the 8th Central Pay Commission, restoring the Old Pension System, stopping the re-engagement of retired employees, ending contractual appointments against vacant sanctioned posts, and regularising all existing contractual, casual, master roll, and daily-wage employees.
The Federation announced that it will observe mass casual leave on June 22 and 23 if the Government does not take satisfactory action by June 21.
It also stated that an indefinite cease-work strike will commence from July 1 if its demands remain unresolved.
