IMPHAL, Jul 1 : THAU, Thangmeiband and AKSDO, Khangabok carried forward their momentum to score their third straight league round victories in the ongoing 1st MNCA Women’s U19 T20 Trophy.
At THAU ground, AKSDO who had beaten FORCE and SU for two of two Group A victories, hammered PTRC, Patsoi by 7 wickets for the third win on the trot.
PTRC elected to bat first but were restricted to 58/9 in the allotted 15 overs before AKSDO eased to the winning 61 just 6.3 overs with 7 wickets to spare.
Only L Bigyapati, 16 off 13 balls, made the double digit score for PTRC today as AKSDO bowlers kept things tight to ensure there were no meaningful partnerships.
Bijiya Khundrakpam produced the standout bowling performance for AKSDO claiming three wickets for 15 runs in her spell of 3 overs while Alish Thokchom (2/9), Thokchom Langlen (2/8), and Lucyrani Khundrakpam (2/4) shared other 6 wickets.
In reply, Taniya Ningthoujam anchored with an unbeaten 31 off 21 balls to seal the victory for AKSDO within 6.3 overs with Henthoisana Takhellambam (6 not out off 5 balls).
Alish Thokchom had also added 13 runs off just 6 balls to keep the scoreboard ticking for the team until she was undone for the third wicket by Laitonjam Benita in the 4th over. Benita returned with the best figures of 2/19 in 3 overs for PTRC as Thokchom Dimple finished with 1/18 in 1.3 overs.
Alish Thokchom who produced a clinical all-round show was named player of the match.
Elsewhere at Khudeiband Lampak, THAU cruised to their third Group B win by defeating PCC by 9 wickets.
THAU chose wisely to field first and restricted PCC to 60/7 before making their way to the target in 9.1 overs with 9 wickets to spare.
Like in the previous match, THAU bowlers combined well to keep the PCC momentum in check despite Okram Yashica Devi (19 off 33 balls), Nongthombam Langlenthoibi Chanu (16 not out off 24 balls) and Kebisana Puyam (10 off 25 balls) doing their best.
Thokchom Purni was the pick of the THAU bowlers today returning with the best figures of 3/14 in 4 overs as Wangkhem Nganbi, Konjengbam Nonibala and M Creety chipped in with a wicket apiece while maintaining brilliant economies.
In reply, Robeni Usham and M Creety gave THAU a solid start by raising 45 runs for the first wicket.
Creety was bowled out by Y Sungsung (1/18) in the 4th delivery of the 7th over but her departure had little effect on the chase as Robeni (22 not out off 27 balls) and Surangini Kangabam (5 not out off 4 balls) finished off the chase 15 balls latter.
Thokchom Purni who shone with the ball for THAU was adjudged player of the match.
