IMPHAL, Jun 30 : A sit-in protest was held today at the Changangei Community Hall, Imphal West, under the banner of the Justice for the Six Sons of Koubru United Committee (J6SKUC), demanding justice for the six Liangmai Naga civilians who were abducted and brutally killed recently.
Following the sit-in demonstration, protesters formed a human chain and reiterated their demands to the Government to deliver justice for the six Naga men, abrogate SoO pact, evict all illegal villages/settlements and remove Nemcha Kipgen from her post as Deputy Chief Minister.
The Justice for the Six Sons of Koubru United Committee (J6SKUC) is a citizens' platform constituted to pursue justice for the six Liangmai Naga victims under the aegis of the Joint Tribes Council (JTC), an apex body representing the Inpui, Liangmai, Rongmei, and Zeme tribes.
During the sit-in demonstration, representatives of the J6SKUC stated that justice cannot be delayed when innocent civilians have been abducted and brutally killed.
They emphasised that the campaign is not directed against any community but a call for impartial enforcement of the law, the prosecution of those responsible for the killing, and restoration of public confidence in the justice system.
The six Liangmai Naga civilians were among  18 people abducted from Leilon Vaiphei Kuki village on May 13. While the others were released days later, dismembered bodies of the six were found on June 10.
During the protest, the J6SKUC members demanded immediate arrest and prosecution of all "perpetrators", including Lalboi Vaiphei, chief of Leilon Vaiphei Village, Thanggilian Vaiphei, serving in the Manipur Police, and members of the Kuki National Front (KNF-P) allegedly involved in the abduction and brutal killing.
They also reiterated their demand to the Government to immediately abrogate the Suspension of Operations (SoO) agreement and  take up decisive action to end the "ongoing proxy war carried out under its cover."
They reiterated their demand to the Government to declare the Kuki National Front (KNF-P) as a terrorist organisation and initiate stringent legal action against its members and support networks.
Further, the Government must evict all illegal villages established in violation of the law,  immediately remove Nemcha Kipgen as Deputy Chief Minister in the interest of public confidence and accountability, they said. Democratic public agitation will continue until justice is delivered for the six Liangmai Naga victims, they added.
The protest demonstration was supported by the Changangei Apunba Club, Langdai Khangsunaha, Joint Tribe Council (JTC), AMUCO, COCOMI, 14-Civil Society Organisations, RIFPCO Manipur etc.
