IMPHAL, Jun 30: Employees of the State Government are all set to launch a ceasework strike from Wednesday until all their demands and entitlements are granted.
Speaking to media persons at the office of Pensioners’ Union, Pishum-thong today, Manipur Government Services Federation (MGSF) president L Sarat said that the State Government employees will launch a ceasework strike from tomorrow under the MGSF, Manipur State Pensioners’ Union and the Manipur Secretariat Services Association.
He said that the Government has not been paying any attention to the grievances and demands of employees and pensioners in spite of repeated appeals and reminders.
Before the ceasework strike scheduled to be launched from tomorrow, employees earlier took mass casual leave pressing for their demands but the Government did not pay any heed, Sarat said.
Appealing to all concerned to support the ceasework strike, he claimed that there is nothing in the employees’ list of demands which would harm the Government or the public.
Primary demands of State Government employees and pensioners include raising the age of superannuation from 60 to 62, payment of DA at par with Central Government employees, establishment of State pay commission for implementation of the recommendations of the 8th Pay Commission and revival of OPS in place of NPS/UPS.
Employees have also been demanding the Government to do away with the practice of engaging retired officers.
Regularisation of contract, casual and muster roll workers before making any fresh recruitment of contract or casual employees is another demand of the employees.
