5 Kg opium seized

IMPHAL, Jun 30 : Jiribam police arrested two Rajasthan residents with 5 kilograms of opium yesterday.
The two arrested have been identified as Dhanraj Prajapat (46) of Pratapgarh and Buddha Ram (44) of Chitalwana.
They were trying to smuggle out 5 kilograms of opium in an i20 car when they were intercepted and arrested by Jiribam police at around 8.15 pm yesterday. The opium was found concealed in the tyres of the vehicle.
Meanwhile, sources said the arrest of the two persons led the police to hunt for a third suspect and arrest one person from Thanga Khunjem Leikai, Bishnupur district.
Jiribam police have registered a case and further investigation is on to trace the origin of the opium and other known associates of the arrested persons.
