KANGPOKPI, Jul 1: In a remarkable display of courage, professionalism and impartial public service, personnel of the 112 Battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) rescued two civilians from a vehicle that had skidded to the edge of a deep gorge along National Highway-2 in Manipur's Kangpokpi district, preventing what could have been a fatal accident.
The incident occurred at around 7:30 pm near Changoubung village, where highway construction is currently underway. The A-Star car reportedly lost control, veered off the carriageway and came to a halt precariously at the unstable edge of a steep gorge, moments away from plunging into the ravine.
The CRPF personnel, who were returning after completing day-long deployment duties between Changoubung and T Khulen, immediately rushed to the scene upon noticing the stranded vehicle. Demonstrating exceptional presence of mind and unwavering commitment to saving lives, the jawans launched a swift rescue operation without regard to personal risk.
Using ropes, coordinated teamwork and sheer physical strength, the personnel secured the vehicle to prevent it from sliding further before painstakingly pulling it back onto the highway. Their timely intervention ensured the safe rescue of both occupants, identified as Leishiyo Naga and another resident of Senapati district, who sustained only minor injuries.
The operation concluded without any loss of life or major injuries, with the vehicle also safely recovered from the edge of the gorge.
