IMPHAL, Jul 9: The Nungba Area Village Authority Association (NAVAA) has strongly condemned firing from Nungthut village towards neighbouring Rongmei Naga villages yesterday.
Such actions of intimidation are reckless, irrespon- sible, and pose a serious threat to the peace, security, and safety of innocent civilians, it said in a statement.
'NAVAA considers any attempt to threaten or intimidate neighbouring villages through the use of firearms unacceptable. Violence, fear, and provocation have no place in a civilized society. We urge all concerned individuals and groups to immediately refrain from any action that could further escalate tensions," it said.
"The Naga people will not accept or tolerate acts of terror carried out by the Kuki refugees, intimidation, or aggression against our villages and communities. We firmly call upon all parties to respect the tradition of our ancestral land, and resolve disputes through dialogue and lawful means...," it said.
NAVAA remains committed to peace, justice, and the protection of the lives and rights of all people. "We call upon every community to reject violence and work together to preserve harmony and mutual respect," it added.
