IMPHAL, Jul 10 : A man and his wife allegedly involved in the abduction and killing of six villagers from Konsakhul on May 13, 2026 have been arrested by a combined team of Manipur Police, NIA and CRPF.
The two were later produced before an NIA Court which remanded them to custody for 12 days.
As per a report shared by Manipur Police on their social media page, a joint team of Manipur Police, NIA and CRPF, acting on credible information, carried out a precise operation today to apprehend the two accused who were allegedly involved in the abduction of six Naga individuals on May 13, 2026 at Leilon Vaiphei village.
The operation was launched in the early morning at Leilon Vaiphei and two individuals identified as Pradip and his wife Mangaih alias Ayingbi d/o Nimkhin-sau were arrested by the security forces in connection with the abduction and killing of the 6 men.
Strangely, the police report shared on their social media page did not give the surnames of the two apprehended accused.
They are likely to be produced before the Court concerned and taken into NIA custody for further investigation of the case.
It is said that NIA and the security forces have been making all efforts to arrest other accomplices involved in the crime.
Notably, Konsakhul villagers had filed an application before M Sundar, Chief Justice High Court of Manipur through the Court’s Registrar General on May 26 pleading to take cognizance and intervene regarding the abduction and enforced disappearance of the six villagers of Konsakhul.
The application clearly mentioned that on May 13, villagers of Konsakhul upon reaching Leilon Vaiphei were stopped by villagers of Leilon Vaiphei.
At that moment, the villagers of Konsakhul saw around six persons at the gate of Leilon Vaiphei village.
Of the six persons seen at the gate, three of them were identified as Ayingbi, her husband Pradip and one Hoinu, all residents of Leilon Vaiphei.
The arrest comes even as a large number of Naga and Meitei people have been staging a series of protests demanding fitting punishment of all those involved in the abduction and killing of the six Naga men. The bodies of the six Naga men are still lying at JNIMS morgue. Altogether 18 Naga people including a child were abducted on May 13 at Leilon Vaiphei village. While the child and the women were released later, the whereabouts of the six Naga men remained unknown and it was only on June 10 that their mutilated bodies were recovered.
