IMPHAL, Jul 10 : Manipur’s top athlete Huidrom Bhumeshwory Devi were among three bronze medallists as middle-distance runners headlined India's performance on the second day of the inaugural edition of Asian U23 Athletics Championships.
Bhumeshwory Devi Huidrom clocked 2:10.20 in the women’s 800 m race to seal the bronze medal in the competition being hosted by China at Sports Development Centre Stadium in Ordos.
Bhumeshwory is the daughter of Huidrom Basanta and Huidrom Ongbi Mangi of Huidrom Awang Leikai, Imphal East.
Uzbekistan's Jonbibi Hukmove won gold with a time of 2:08.41 as Japan's Kurumi Sugure took the silver in 2:09.42.
The other bronze medallists include Shakeel, who clocked 1:48.78 in the men’s 800 m race, and Abhay Singh, who took 20.96 seconds in the men's 200m race.
India had won five medals, including one gold, on the opening day on Thursday.
