Another Naga village torched

IMPHAL, Jul 10: Sempat Naga village located within Nungba sub-division in Noney district was allegedly torched by Kuki militants on July 3, 2026.
According to a press release issued by the Sempat Naga Village Authority, all the residential houses were burnt down and the village was completely destroyed, leaving all homeless.
Along with their homes, the villagers lost their livestock, barns, agricultural produces and household belongings causing immense hardship and suffering, it said.
After their village was completely destroyed, the affected families have been forced to seek refuge at Longmai village (Noney) and Nungba village where they are currently living under difficult conditions and limited access to basic necessities.
Having lost their means of livelihood, they are in urgent need of humanitarian assistance, said the village authority.
It has appealed to the authorities concerned and the Government to take immediate steps to assess the destruction and provide adequate relief including food, temporary shelter, clothing, medical assistance and rehabilitation support.
The village authority further appealed to the Govt to ensure safety and security of the displaced villagers and to facilitate their settlement so that they can rebuild their lives with dignity.
