MAYOL organises awareness campaign on ethical voting

THOUBAL, Jul 11: As part of its year-long campaign, "Politics: Vote for National Regeneration," the Manipur Youth League (MAYOL) organised a public awareness meeting at Thoubal Khunou Keithel Macha on Friday to encourage ethical and informed voting.
The programme was organised in collaboration with Thoubal Khunou Apunba Meira Paibi.
Nupi Khunnai Chaokhat Lamjing Lup president Tayenjam Rita and Thoubal Khunou Apunba Meira Paibi vice-president Laishram Rabini attended the function as dais members, while Advocate Thokchom Suresh and MAYOL president Koijam Suresh served as resource persons.“
Addressing the gathering, Advocate Thokchom Suresh urged voters not to accept money, participate in feasts or consume intoxicants in exchange for votes. He stressed that the electorate should choose representatives with integrity, sound moral character and a good understanding of history, in addition to being educated. He also spoke on the importance of ethical politics and responsible leadership in ensuring good governance.
Speaking at the programme, MAYOL president Koijam Suresh said the campaign aims to encourage people to reflect on their role in the democratic process and participate responsibly in elections.
He appealed to voters not to sell their votes for personal gain or personal acquaintance with candidates, but to elect deserving representatives who can promote social harmony, balanced development and the overall progress of the State.
