One "extortionist" arrested

IMPHAL, Jul 11: Security forces today arrested an active cadre of the KCP (Nongdrenkhomba) faction for his alleged involvement in extortion activities and a recent grenade attack in the Kyamgei area. The arrested individual has been identified as Md Motim alias Lanthoiba alias Nanao (31), son of Md Salam of Kyamgei Muslim Awang Leikai. According to police sources, he was arrested from Khurai Nandeibam Leikai at around 2.53 pm. During interrogation, police alleged that the accused confessed to his involvement in extortion activities in the Kyamgei area and revealed that the outfit had recently lobbed a hand grenade at Kyamgei Muslim Awang Leikai to enforce a monetary demand. The arrested person has been handed over to Porompat Police Station for further legal action.
