UKHRUL, Jul 11: The Working Committee, Tangkhul Naga Long (TNL) has lambasted the Government for overlooking the admission made by the Kuki-Zo Council (KZC) regarding the abduction of 18 Liangmai Naga civilians on May 13, 2026 and subsequent murder of six innocent men, whose mutilated bodies were recovered on June 10, 2026.
The KZC had publicly admitted for the abduction and killing of the innocent Naga civilians, and the physical involvement of Leilon Vaiphei chief Lalboi Vaiphei alias Khailensang and his womenfolk with the backing of the armed cadres of Kuki National Front-Presidential (KNF-P) as credibly established by the survivors.
But the Government has been overlooking and ignoring this fact till date, the TNL said.
One Pradip who hails from Meitei community and his wife Mangaih alias Ayingbi from Leilon Vaiphei village were arrested by a combined team of Manipur Police, National Investigation Agency (NIA) and CRPF on July 10 in connection with the abduction of the 18 Liangmai Naga civilians and the subsequent murder of six innocent man.
The arrest of the couple is a bizarre exercise and a tactical faux pas on the part of the law enforcement agencies to fool the people of the State and divert public attention from intensifying the demand for arrest of the real culprits involved in the abduction, illegal detention and the brutal murders, the TNL asserted. The TNL has also asked the State Government and the law enforcement agencies to carefully and judiciously pursue the matters with transparency and accountability to deliver justice in the larger interest of the people in the State.
