IMPHAL, Jul 12: The National People’s Party (NPP), Manipur State Unit has vehemently condemned the burning down of houses at Kanto Sabal village, a Meitei village situation in very close proximity to the Leimakhong army camp by a Kuki mob in the afternoon of July 11, 2026.   It is deeply disturbing that such an act of violence was carried out in broad daylight and in close proximity to a major army installation.
This incident raised serious concerns about the security of all civilian populations living in vulnerable and peripheral areas, said a press release issued by NPP Manipur State Unit president Dr Lorho S Pfoze.
The deliberate targeting of a Meitei village, displacing families and destroying homes is a direct attack on peace, humanity and the spirit of  coexistence in Manipur, it said. The NPP Manipur has also urged the State Government, Central Government and all security forces to immediately provide relief and rehabilitation to the affected families of Kanto Sabal, launch a thorough and time-bound investigation to identify and bring the perpetrators to justice and strengthen security arrangements in and around vulnerable villages to prevent such incidents in the future, and rebuild trust and confidence.
