IMPHAL, Jul 13 : UTA claimed 4 gold, 4 silver, and 6 bronze medals on the day to maintain their position at the top of the standings with an impressive total of 13 gold, 16 silver, and 20 bronze medals in the ongoing 19th Governor’s Cup Taekwondo. However, TTS Nambol's dominant single-day performance surged their overall tally to 12 gold, 3 silver, and 6 bronze medals, keeping the pressure on the leaders from the second-place spot.
Day 3 highlights
Ethan Kshetrimayum of UTA sealed the sub-junior boys’ -16 kg category by defeating Maibam Heritage of KTA in the final. Elambam Ericraj of BTA and Nandeibam Tomthinnganba of PTA shared the bronze medal podium in this category.
Mangal Thounaojam of PTA meanwhile sealed the -18 kg category gold medal defeating Lamjingba Soubam of KTA in the final bout as Irom Zenith of HTA and Darius Nongthombam of UST settled for the bronze medals.
Athoiba Thokchom of TTS Nambol meanwhile earned the -21 kg category title defeating Nongdam Khongbantabam of KTA as Dhaljit Konjengbam of PTA sealed the -23 kg category title by defeating Ch Ningthouba of ASTA in the final.
Leimapokpam Yaikhomba of IMRTA on the other hand claimed the -25 kg category gold by outplaying compatriot Maibam Malemnganba in the final as Taoheirengpanba Moirangthem of TTS Nambol sealed the -27 kg category title by defeating Thangjam Jack Khuman of ASTA in the final.
-29 kg category gold medal meanwhile went to Athouba Thokchom of TTS Nambol who beat BTA’s Punshiba Ngangom in the final while Jackson Sorokhaibam of UTA beat Thoudam Telheiba of ASTA and Pheiroijam Dikash of PTA beat Himalay Athokpam of UTA for the -32 kg and -35 kg category titles.
Khumanthem Lamnganba of LTA meanwhile sealed the -38 kg category title by defeating Ksh Veerson of TAP today as -41 kg category title went to Thokchom Prithiviraj of LTA who got the better of Laitonjam Malemnganba of MTA in the final.
Oinam Yaithoiba of TSS Lairensajik emerged as the -44 kg category gold medallist as he beat Moirangthem Chinkheinganba of CTIS in the final bout before NSA’s Humlennganba Yumnam bagged the -50 kg title by defeating PTSA’s Tongbram Dujaraj in the final.
Sub-junior boy’s -50 kg category gold went to TTS Lairensajik’s Lairenlakpam Alex who beat UTA’s Pamthoiba in the final as Naorem Sushanta of CTIS and Leimapokpam Vedrajit bagged the bronze medals.

The day also saw the completion of medal bouts of various weight categories of the junior boys’ segment.
Nivasis sealed the junior boys’ -45 kg category title by beating Thokchom Raj in an all TTS Nambol final as K Luhenba of HIM and Laishram Loya of KTA settled for the bronze medals.
Saikhom Imoba of TTA Khangabok meanwhile claimed the -48 kg category title by defeating LTA’s Ksh Raj in the final.
The -51 kg category title meanwhile went to Maximus Thongbam of TTS Nambol by getting the better of Saikhom Nungshiba of TTA Khangabok in the final as -55 kg category title was sealed by Yumnam Obed of NSA who beat Laishram Mangalsana of TTA Khangabok in the ultimate clash.
Bidyananda Phairembam of PTA meanwhile sealed the -59 kg category title by beating Gedajit Irungbam of UTA in the final. Winning the -68 kg category was UTA’s Jamsana Rajkumar who beat KTA’s Stallone Ningthouja in the final as Pukhrambam Manisana of TTS Nambol beat Wangkhem Mahesh of LFC for the -73 kg category gold and Khwairakpam Arnish of UTA emerged as the -78 kg category champion.
Loveson Keisham of PTA on the other hand won the +78 kg category gold by defeating Yengkokpam Lanchenba of UTA in the final.
