IMPHAL, Jul 13 : Continuing its pen-down strike which began on July 9, the Manipur Tribal Development Corporation Limited Employees' Association (MTDCLEA) staged a protest demonstration at Lamphel today.
During the protest, the employees' association demanded the appointment of a new Chairman of the Manipur Tribal Development Corporation, continuation of the Government's grant-in-aid, and a halt to the opening of new subsidiary offices of the Corporation, among other demands.
The protesters alleged that the Chairman of the Corporation is rarely available at the office.
Speaking to the media, MTDCLEA general secretary M Jagatchadra said that the association has submitted a memorandum listing their demands to the Governor, Chief Minister and Chief Secretary. He reiterated that the Chairman's frequent absence from the office has affected the functioning of the Corporation and urged the authorities to appoint a new head to ensure its proper administration.
