IMPHAL, Jul 14 : Government employees who are on a cease-work strike have expressed dissatisfaction with the Government for allegedly not considering their demands.
The Manipur Secretariat Services Association (MSSA), Manipur State Pensioners' Union (MSPU) and the Manipur Government Services Federation (MGSF) have been demanding pay commission formation, revival of the Old Pension Scheme, restoration of Saturday holidays, and enhanced Dearness Allowance among others.
Although the Saturday holiday has been restored, Government employees have continued their cease-work strike, pressing for the fulfilment of their other demands too.
Addressing a press briefing at the Civil Secretariat at Mantripukhri today, Manipur Secretariat Services Association (MSSA) president Md Rousan Ali said it is unfortunate that the Government had not responded to their demands.
Saying that the strike would continue, he added that the Government must take full responsibility for the consequences. He also said that they had never demanded the immediate fulfilment of all their demands, adding that the Government should instead consider implementing them in a phased manner.
